視譜(Sight Reading)就是要你能看得懂每個音樂符號，並將你所看到的轉化為聲音並產生一首樂曲。要在演奏之前想像出音樂的聲音及旋律，當中牽涉到你對音程、和弦、拍子節奏及音樂質感的熟悉。
考試時你會有３０秒時間去準備，而你應該：
1. 查看調子及拍子記號，你可以回想樂曲屬於哪一個音階(Scales)，與及查看是大調 (Major)或小調 (Minor)；
2. 查看所有Accidentals；
3. 定好將要打的拍子及速度，及看通全篇樂曲，想像一下樂曲的音是怎樣，而你也可以嘗試奏一下某些你想試的部分；
4. 想張一下大細聲變化帶來的效果。
當考官要你開始演奏時，不要忘記你已定好的速度。記著，樂曲流暢度比其他東西更為重要，故此無論發生什麼事都要記著冷靜地繼續演奏，就算演奏出了失誤也不要反回頭奏。最後一點就要盡力把曲子演奏出來，而不是把視譜當作考試或練作曲般演練。
